Yogesh Kumaran, PhD
FOUNDER
Yogesh Kumaran is the Founder of Ossatura Labs with nearly a decade of experience in orthopaedic biomechanics, computational modeling, and finite element analysis. His research integrates mechanical testing, motion capture, and patient-reported outcome measures to develop and validate patient-specific in-silico models characterizing implant and patient biomechanics to improve surgical planning and outcomes.
Trained under Dr. Vijay Goel at the University of Toledo's Engineering Center for Orthopaedic Research Excellence (E-CORE) Lab, Yogesh has hands-on experience generating the computational and mechanical pre-clinical evidence that supports FDA 510(k) submissions for orthopaedic devices, including deep fluency in the ASME V&V 40 verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification framework. He spun out Ossatura Labs from his doctoral research to bring physics-based, patient-specific surgical planning to orthopaedics for the first time in cleared software.
Yogesh holds a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering, a Master of Science in Biomedical Science, and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Orthopaedic Biomechanics from the University of Toledo, where he is completing his MD through the MD-PhD program.

Kevan Pigott, BS
FOUNDING SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Kevan Pigott is a software engineer with six years of experience across embedded systems, medical device software, and full-stack development. He began his career at GIRD Systems, where he developed kernel-level drivers and waveform applications for advanced processors under an active DoD Secret security clearance. At Treetown Tech, he shifted into regulated software, building software for medical devices and designing modular control systems for industrial automation. He subsequently applied his embedded expertise to automotive software at Ford Motor Company before joining Enova International as Technology Team Lead.
At Ossatura Labs, Kevan serves as Founding Software Engineer and a member of the founding team, architecting and building the OssPlan platform from the ground up. His work spans the full technical stack, from medical image ingestion, AI-driven, simulation outputs, and clinical-facing visualization tooling. His prior experience with SaMD development and FDA submission workflows positions him to build toward regulatory clearance from day one. Kevan brings the rare combination of low-level systems depth and production software delivery discipline that a hardware-adjacent, clinically-regulated product demands.

Humza Shaikh, MD
MEDICAL ADVISOR
Dr. Humza Shaikh is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon at University of Minnesota Medical Center. He was instrumental in building the Ohio State University trauma program and expanding its capacity to manage complex injuries, including forequarter and lateral implosion injuries to the shoulder and chest wall, complex pelvic fractures, and high-energy articular injuries.
Dr. Shaikh completed medical school and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He then completed an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at Regions Hospital through the University of Minnesota program in 2023 before joining Ohio State.
At Ossatura Labs, Dr. Shaikh serves as Medical Advisor and the company's primary clinical voice. He drives the surgical use case, shapes the clinical validation protocol, and bridges the gap between computational biomechanics and the operating room. His interest in deploying OssPlan in his own practice reflects his firsthand experience with the limitations of current fracture fixation planning.
